MANILA — Two male students were killed and three others injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a tricycle in Kalinga province in the northern Philippines, police said Tuesday.
Police said the accident happened past noon local time on Monday in Tabuk, a town in Kalinga province. The two grade 9 students were headed home on a motorcycle after authorities suspended their classes due to a typhoon.
A surveillance video showed that the speeding motorcycle ferrying three people, including the driver, accidentally crossed over the center island, tossed its riders onto the pavement, and crashed into a traveling tricycle on the opposite side of the road.
The students, who were not wearing helmets, were pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The injured include the motorcycle driver and two passengers of the tricycle.
Police are conducting a follow-up investigation into the accident.
