2 killed in small aircraft crash in Finland

HELSINKI — Two people lost their lives after a small aircraft crashed at Rayskala Airport in Loppi, southern Finland, on Wednesday, according to local media reports.

At a news conference held on Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed they received a notification about the crash shortly after noon. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered both occupants had died.

A two-seater plane crashed during takeoff and caught fire, said the Finnish news agency STT.

A police spokesperson said that it was too early to comment on the aircraft’s airworthiness or the circumstances leading to the crash.
