GAZA — Hamas on Tuesday claimed its militants killed and wounded ten Israeli soldiers in Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
“Our members killed and wounded ten Israeli soldiers in a house bombing with a highly explosive device in Jabalia camp,” al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a press statement without providing further details.
Later, the Brigades reported in a separate statement that its members targeted a tank with a “commando” device and a D9 bulldozer with a “tandem” shell in Tel al-Zaatar, north of Gaza.
Also on Tuesday, the Israeli army confirmed in a press statement the deaths of four soldiers during the fighting in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, Monday night.
On Oct. 5, the Israeli army began an unprecedented bombardment of areas in the northern Gaza Strip before launching a large-scale military operation there, especially in Jabalia.
The Israeli army says that its operation in Jabalia aims to prevent Hamas fighters from reorganizing their ranks to launch more attacks.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 43,665, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Tuesday
