Israeli airstrikes target 2 new areas in Beirut, cause casualties

BEIRUT — Israeli military launched two airstrikes Monday night on two new areas in Beirut for the first time since the beginning of the conflict last year, the al-Jadeed local TV channel reported.

The Israeli airstrikes targeted Ouzai, a densely populated area located on the outskirts of Beirut’s southern suburbs, and another one on Jnah in Beirut.

The first airstrike on Ouzai had forced residents to leave their houses, seeking safer shelters elsewhere, according to the channel.

Al-Jadeed added that the airstrike on Jnah resulted in casualties, with civil defense teams rushing to the scene to search for victims under the rubble.

The Israeli warplanes also launched seven airstrikes on Dahieh, Beirut’s southern suburbs.
